AG Office's open records, meeting seminars start Sept. 28
An official from the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office will answer questions about the state's Open Records and Meeting laws during a series of workshops this fall and winter. The workshops are free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
Each will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The workshops are sponsored by Attorney General Mike Hunter, the Oklahoma Press Association and the Oklahoma Newspaper Foundation.
The first is Sept. 28 in Ardmore at the Southern Oklahoma Technology Center, Stone Hall (main building, Bldg. 100), Seminar Room A, 2610 Sam Noble Parkway.
The rest are scheduled for:
- Oct. 12: Woodward: Woodward Conference Center, 3401 Centennial Lane.
- Oct. 19: Owasso: Tulsa Technology Center, Owasso Campus, Sycamore Room, 10800 N. 140th E. Ave. (Additional Directions)
- Nov. 2: McAlester: Eastern Oklahoma State College/McAlester campus, Conference Center Auditorium, 1802 E. College Ave.
- Nov. 16: Oklahoma City: Metro Tech Conference Center, Business Conference Center Building, Auditorium, 1900 Springlake Drive (Additional Directions)
- Dec. 7: Altus: Southwest Technology Center, Seminar Center, 711 W. Tamarack Road
The workshops will be conducted by Abby Dillsaver, general counsel to the attorney general. She handles records requests made to the AG's Office.
She will explain the statutory requirements regarding access to public records and the conduct of public meetings, as well as answer FOI-related questions.
Attorneys, technology center board members, and school board members and superintendents can earn three continuing education credits from the Oklahoma Bar Association, Department of Career and Technology Education, and Department of Education, respectively.
