Statement regarding Health Department scaling back release of COVID-19 data

Earlier today the Oklahoma State Department of Health announced that they would be scaling back the amount and type of data they will be releasing moving forward. You can read the press release here, and the Oklahoma Watch story about it here.

In response to this significant change in protocol, FOI Oklahoma has released this statement:

“We recognize the need to balance patient privacy with maintaining public health. We encourage OSDH and the Governor's office to share as much data as possible so that the Oklahomans can make fully-informed decisions for themselves and their families in order to bring a swift end to the pandemic."
