Independent candidate seeking House District 99 seat signs Open Government Pledge

The manager of an Oklahoma City Thunder blog has promised “to support legislation to strengthen the letter and the spirit” of Oklahoma’s open government laws if elected to the House District 99 seat. In signing FOI Oklahoma’s Open Government Pledge for legislative candidates, Marina Mangiaracina also promised “to support at every opportunity” the state’s public policy that “the people are vested with the inherent right to know and be fully informed about their government so that they can efficiently and intelligently exercise their inherent political power.”

Mangiaracina is running as an Independent against incumbent George E. Young, a Democrat, in the Nov. 8 election. House District 99 includes parts of Nichols Hills and Oklahoma City.

Mangiaracina began Welcome to Loud City, an SB Nation blog, as a one-person operation and now manages more than 20 writers. Her writing has been featured on Sports Illustrated Online and Yahoo! Sports Ball Don't Lie. She's been a credential reporter covering the NBA Finals, Team USA Basketball and the FIBA Basketball World Championship, according to her campaign website.

FOI Oklahoma invites all candidates for state, local and legislative seats to sign its Open Government Pledge. Instructions and lists of signers can be found on FOI Oklahoma’s website.
